Thanks for your comment, John. We've read the Contract for the People. It's easily the most substantial document on the UKIP/Brexit/Reform timeline. And you're right, of course, that the party's policy is not to privatise the NHS but that change came under Richard Tice (along with most of the content of the 'contract' as far as we can tell) and he's now been sidelined. The NHS remains a personal obsession for Farage - one that he raises at every opportunity. For me it's the best diagnostic of Reform's weakness. While the party thrashes around in the shallow water of Farage's out-of-date, Powellite policy pool there's likely to be a hard limit on their popularity.

There are some points in the article that you may wish to reconsider. Do you know that a year ago, Reform UK's national membership was around 15,000 but has recently topped 100,000?
With regard to Reform UK's policy platform, one pledge in the 2024 General Election Contract With The People document was to bring public utilities into public ownership, based on 50% national ownership and the other 50% being owned by UK pension funds.
Reform UK policy is NOT to privatise the NHS. There is a clear need for urgent and significant reform of the NHS. Everyone knows this. Reform UK plans will achieve this while retaining national control.

We've been wondering that ourselves. The YouGov MRP survey still gives Hertsmere comfortably to the Conservatives. We assume that Tapper's current number is based on the latest Electoral Calculus projection. Electoral Calculus provides a detailed explanation of the boundary changes but it doesn't really explain the gulf between the two outcomes. Common sense would still seem to support a Tory win here.

Well, since new Parish Council candidates are often first-timers, it's usually quite hard to find much information about their interests. Google is your friend, though, of course, so it's worth searching for their names. For instance, it's fairly easy to find out that Romy Rosehill, one of the Conservative candidates for the Aldenham East ward, lives in Borehamwood where she's a helper at the foodbank and works at Ocado as a buying manager.
